3 teens broke into a jeep on 15th and California Street NE while the other two, one with a gun and both wearing ski masks went up to an attached porch. Police arrived shortly after and spotted the 5 suspects in the van which fled in reverse down Main Street. The van was boxed in by police, the 5 occupants bailed on foot. One was caught by police, 4 remaining at large. A gun was recovered inside the van."

Chief Brian O’Hara said that on July 14th, 2024 at approximately 945 pm, Officers from the 2nd Precinct responded to reports of a shooting in the 2500 block of Central Ave NE. Upon arrival, officers located one adult male suffering from apparent life-threatening gunshot wounds on the ground. Officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived. The male was transported to Hennepin Healthcare Hospital where he later died.
