A 51-year-old Minneapolis man is accused of beating his mentally disabled twin daughters, raping them and chaining them to a bedroom door in a case described as torture. The man was charged this week with several felonies, including first-degree criminal sexual conduct, first- and second-assault and abuse of a vulnerable adult by a caregiver. He is jailed on $750,000 bail, with his first court appearance scheduled Thursday.
One person was transported to the hospital Thursday morning as a precaution after a house fire in Minneapolis. According to authorities, the fire started at about 3:30 a.m. at a home on the 2900 block of 44th Avenue South.

No injuries were reported after a fire broke out in a residential garage in Plymouth Sunday evening. Plymouth fire Chief Rodger Coppa said the call came in as a garage fire on the 5100 block of Upland Avenue North at about 6:15 p.m. Coppa said crews bumped it to a two-alarm fire because of the size of the home and the difficulty of gaining access to the house.

A methamphetamine investigation in northern Minnesota led to the discovery of methamphetamine, heroin and psilocybin mushrooms. The investigation was conducted by the Cloquet Police Department and the Fond du Lac Police Department. As a part of the investigation police obtained a search warrant for a residence on the Fond du Lac Reservation. During the search officers found what they suspected to be approximately 135 grams of methamphetamine, heroin and psilocybin mushrooms. Officers also found and seized six firearms from the home.
A man was seriously injured in a fire at a Plymouth apartment building late Thursday night. Firefighters and police responded to the 3300 block of Highway 169, at which a fire burned inside one of the building's third-floor units, around 11 p.m.
A Lakeville middle school principal who was on leave during a law enforcement investigation was arrested Tuesday, according to Dakota County jail records. Chris Endicott was booked in the Dakota County Jail, on suspicion of harassment, the records show. Jail records state he was arrested by Apple Valley police. Charges are still pending, but Endicott is expected to appear in court Thursday.
Two girls from Wisconsin reported missing are safe after they showed up at the Minneapolis Police Department's 5th Precinct station. On Monday, the department said 15-year-old Audrey Patricia Nash and 15-year-old Candus Jean Flodin were last seen in the Canal Park area. BA Hastings, Minn., man has pleaded guilty to a felony charge in a case involving a 2016 hit-and-run that caused the death of a 10-year-old girl, according to an Aitkin County Attorney's Office spokeswoman.
A woman suffered injuries that were life-threatening Wednesday evening, Jan. 31, after her vehicle went into the ditch and hit a tree. The BCA said Nicollet County sheriff's deputies spotted a vehicle Wednesday morning that had been reported stolen in New Ulm. A St. Paul man was sentenced to jail time after pleading guilty to assaulting a 3-week-old child, leaving the baby with a skull fracture and a broken leg. Gerald Monte Hinton, 20, was sentenced Tuesday in a Ramsey County court. Hinton received 120 days in the Ramsey County Jail and 10 years of probation.

One person is dead following a shooting at a convenience store in St. Paul Monday night. The incident happened at the Quick Stop Market on the 600 block of Payne Avenue. Authorities say there is no threat to the public, but they are questioning people about the incident.

Moorhead Police arrested a man Friday morning after he threatened his neighbors with a knife. Police responded to a distrubance call on the 1800 block of Belsly Blvd. at around 2 a.m. on Friday, Jan 26. When they arrived, they learned 30-year-old Jay Rurup had entered a neighbor's home and threatened the people inside with a knife. Police say Rurup was looking for his girlfriend. When Rurup found his girlfriend, whose name has not been released, he forced her back to his home.

A 50-year-old pilot was found dead after his single-engine experimental aircraft was discovered Wednesday morning, Jan. 24, after the plane was reported missing on Tuesday, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office said. Authorities later Wednesday identified the pilot as Matthew James Skwira, of Rice.
