Firefighters responded to a house fire in the Northern Township in Bemidji on Monday at 10:20 p.m. Seventeen firefighters using two fire engines and two water tenders arrived on the scene and found that the living room was on fire.

Six people will need a new place to call home after fire gutted their trailer home in Coon Rapids on New Year's Day. Fire crews were dispatched to the 10300 block of Vale Street around noon after reports of a trailer on fire. When engines arrived they found the home engulfed. Officials say a half-dozen residents were able to escape safely, but a number of pets are believed lost to the fire. The list includes a dog, three cats, a ferret, and a tank full of exotic fish that includes a shark.

A man is hurt after a crash involving a semi on Highway 75 and 5th street east at 10:51 p.m. on Tuesday in Norman County. 24-year-old Daniel Levister of Shelly, MN was driving westbound on 5th street east and failed to yield the right of way to the semi that was heading northbound on Highway 75.
A teenager is hurt after she rolled her car on Interstate 94 at 10:21 p.m. on Tuesday. The female driver was heading westbound on I-94 when she entered a curve to the left and then left the road.
A Chaska man died of gunshot injuries during an officer-involved shooting Friday, Dec. 22 in Gilbert, Minnesota. A suspect has died and a deputy was injured in a shooting Friday afternoon in northern Minnesota. The Minnesota BCA is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Gilbert that left a person dead and a deputy with non-life threatening injuries. Around 1:15 p.m., officers were trying to locate someone wanted on a warrant; they encountered a vehicle believed to be connected with the person on the 100 block of Michigan Avenue West.
A 22-year-old man has died after a crash in Peace Township, Minnesota, Friday night. Officers from the Kanabec County sheriff's office responded to a crash around 9 p.m. at Highway 65 by 287th Avenue. According to state patrol, a GMC Sierra was heading south on Highway 65, and a Hyundai was heading north. The Hyundai attempted to turn left across the southbound lane onto 287th and was struck by the GMC.

Police in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, are investigating after a 16-day-old child was found dead Monday afternoon. Officers responded to the Willows Apartment Complex around 4:11 p.m. where they found the baby unconscious. The mother told police that the child was dead.

No one was hurt after a fire broke out at an oil refinery in International Falls Monday night. According to the city's mayor, a 911 call was received by the International Falls Fire Department at 7:09 p.m., reporting a fire at Rainy Lake Oil Company. The company provides gas, oil and propane services to the International Falls area.
A 20-year-old woman has pleaded guilty in Norman County District Court to second-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of her boyfriend last summer. Under a plea agreement between the prosecution and defense, Monalisa Perez would serve 180 days in jail and spend 10 years on supervised probation. The judge, however, will have the final say on her sentence.
